For events of this size, we generally recommend a pair of professional active speakers combined with one or two subwoofers. This ensures even sound coverage throughout the entire hall and provides the dance floor with sufficient bass. The 4-Acoustic Live-212B, Live-115B, and Live-118B are ideally suited for this purpose. All three systems are scalable and can be used with an additional passive subwoofer.

For mobile DJs, it’s important for a speaker system to be compact and durable. It’s also convenient if the system can be scaled up or down. You don’t always need to set up the full system at every event. The 4-Acoustic 2.1 systems—Live-212B, Live-115B, and Live-118B—are designed with exactly that in mind: they’re compact, durable, and expandable with a second passive subwoofer.

Active speakers feature built-in amplifiers and DSP technology. This makes setup easier, optimizes sound tuning, and reduces the number of external components the system requires—ideal for mobile DJs and event service providers.

For smaller weddings or events requiring only voice amplification, powered speakers without a subwoofer may be sufficient. As soon as a DJ or band starts playing in the evening, a subwoofer provides significantly more dynamic range and a balanced sound.

Active speakers have amplifiers and DSP built right into the enclosure. This simplifies the setup and ensures that the amplifier and speaker are optimally matched. As the manufacturer, we can program the active speaker system optimally and calculate a linear phase response using state-of-the-art FIR filters. This results in a significant improvement in sound quality, with transparent mids and high speech intelligibility.

The integrated digital signal processor (DSP) module is responsible for a wide range of tasks. On the one hand, it processes the signal so that the woofer, midrange driver, and tweeter are optimally tuned to work together. Modern DSPs, such as the one we use, employ FIR filter technology. This allows the frequency response and phase behavior of the speaker to be optimized, resulting in high-quality, transparent sound. As an additional DSP feature, we also use a 4-band compressor-limiter to optimally protect the speakers from typical clipping.

The passive subwoofer is connected using a 4-conductor speaker cable. It is wired to receive the bass signal from the power amplifier and to send the signal for the midrange and treble to the Speakon jack connected in parallel. The satellite speaker can be easily connected to the passive subwoofer. It doesn’t matter which output of the subwoofer with the built-in power amplifier is used.
